Lighten Your Hair Naturally with clay
Ingredients for lightening mask - only for dyed hair:
- 1 cup brewed black tea( for extra result) or water.
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar or 8 tablespoons.
- approximately 3/4 cup medicinal clay
- 10 drops of essential oil of choice (optional- I used Lavender and Rosemary for hair growth) or simply you can use olive oil
- 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Mixture:
- The clay is most effective if it doesn’t come in contact with metal before use. Mix with wood, plastic or glass.
- Brew the black tea and let cool slightly, make sure all herbs are strained out.
- Pour the tea and the apple cider vinegar in the cup.
- Start adding clay a tablespoon at a time while mixing to incorporate it.
- Add the cinnamon, mix it and then the essential oil if you are gonna use it.
Starting at roots, massage a handful of the clay mixture into the hair and work down to the roots. Repeat until all hair is coated. Leave 5 minutes or if you let it dry remember to rinse out with warm water and double shampooing after. Add coconut oil to seal or some of your favorite hair oil.

Some type of clays:
Green ClayThis clay contains a dozen of the elements in the Mendelian Table, which is why it is most commonly used and has the most and varied healing properties. It can be called Illite Clay or Sea Clay, the green color comes from the amount of decomposed plant material and iron oxide and is a determining factor in the quality of the clay—it should never be gray or white, it should be very green. It’s so absorbent that not only does it drink up oils, it also pulls blood towards the surface of your skin, giving you a bit of a tingling sensation as it boosts circulation. Accelerates the healing of surface wounds, helps with dermatitis, allergies, redness, insect bites...
White clay
It is the finest clay. Rich of zinc and magnesium and has been known since ancient times as a beauty tool. Helps in hair loss, makes hair healthy, thick and shiny, and also effective against fragile and peeling nails. White clay is a good disinfectant, and it is part of some baby anti-knocking powders. Suitable for all skin types.
Red Clay
Red Clay
The reddish color of this clay is from the higher copper content combined with iron oxide. Used for Iron deficiency anemia to improve blood circulation, to restore the freshness of the dry skin, eliminated the bags under the eyes and to tighten blood capillaries. Redness is especially suitable for oily and problematic skin (usually during puberty).
Yellow Clay
Yellow Clay
It is rich in iron and potassium and has a detoxifying effect, refreshes the skin and saturates it with oxygen.
Gray clay
It is suitable for dry and sensitive skin, as it has a moisturizing and softening effect. Returns elasticity to the face.

Some extra tips for lightening the hair:
- Lemon
For extra lift, Lemon juice is a natural accelerant for lightening. You may apply lemon juice from a squeezer or the lemon itself onto the sections of your hair that you want to highlight, and every time you go outside you'll begin to notice a change.
- Go for a swim
Because time in the sun and swimming outdoors often go hand in hand, it’s hard to distinguish the hair bleaching done by each process. However, Sun is not the only process that works: The salt and chlorine in the ocean and pools work to boost the color of your hair. If your hair is dyed, the chlorine in swimming pools may cause the color to fade.
Similar to vinegar, baking soda is an alternative to chemical-filled shampoos that also lightens hair color. When you go to shower, sprinkle your hair with baking soda and give it a good rub-down. The paste that develops should bleach your hair naturally.

- Honey mask
Mix honey with a bit of distilled water and stick it to your hair. Allow it to soak for 30 minutes or more. When mixed with the distilled water the honey undergoes a chemical process that helps to lighten your hair super fast. For a double bonus, head out in the sun while your hair is soaking. Wash your hair well with shampoo after doing this treatment. There should be no honey left in your hair afterward.
- Use vitamin C
Not only a daily health requirement, but vitamin C can also bring out lighter hues in your locks as well. Get your hands on a bottle of vitamin C tablets, but use it for your hair rather than your consumption. Crush up 5-10 (depending on the length and thickness of your hair) and add the powder to your shampoo. Washing with this concoction will give your hair a dose of bleaching nutrients.
To be on the safe side, you can test a small amount of the clay on your skin before use. Apply the mixture to a small section of your skin and wait a day to see if any side effects occur. If no itchiness, redness, or rash develops, you’re likely in the clear. Suspend applying the mask if you develop any side effects. Use extra caution if you have a sensitive scalp.
